SKT epilogue

After the battle, brutal as it was, Hekaton arrives at the scene of the fight. Bloody and bruised, and missing a few of the handful of giants that accompanied him, he nevertheless looks upon you with a look of proud admiration.

“For a group of smallfolk, you all are formidable indeed. Hmmph. Never again shall I look down upon your race as if we are better, but will strive to aid you where we can. I shall arrange a meeting with the true Lord’s Alliance anon. But I forget myself, where is that frost giant buddy of yours…”. As he says this, the party turns and looks at the human sized pile of ash.

“He died bravely, brought low by some foul magic”, answers Urodak.

“Ah. What a shame. Young cleric, any chance you could do for him what you did for Neri? No? Hmm, well we shall gather his ashes and have them returned with us.” After spending a brief span in silence, Hekaton retrieves Harshnag’s greataxe, and then continues speaking, “We should explore Iymrith’s lair; there’s always bound to be some mighty treasure’s lurking where dragons nest”

As he speaks, he leads the way down into Iymrith’s lair, and eventually leads you to a room with 6 sarcophagi, which Hekaton quickly opens, one by one. To his surprise, the last one contained a Mummy Lord’s remains, but between him, the giants, and the party, it is quickly subdued. In the center of this room is a pile of gold coins, about 750,000 in total. Hekaton has his giants being collecting the coins, promising a fair share with the party for their valor and bravery.

Contained within the various sarcophagi was:

+ 1 battleaxe
gloves of swimming and climbing
wand of magic missiles
+ 1 dagger
wand of binding
ring of the ram
chain mail of resistance
rod of alertness
oathbow
holy avenger longsword
staff of the magi
robe of the archmagi
scroll of true resurrection
book of exalted deeds

While there’s nothing else of value, there are several interesting things, but one sticks out to Hekaton, which he destroys then and there: there’s a room that has several demonic snake statues. This was clearly a place of evil worship used by ancient yuan-ti cultists. After destroying them, Hekaton bids you head back to the Maelstrom with him.

Upon arriving, Neri and Serissa come to meet you and inquire how things fared, and also with news: Serissa has had a vision from Annam the All Father.

“My vision was of a godly creature, massive beyond reckoning. He bid me listen and repeat what I am told to you, Father, and you, mighty adventurers. He said that due to the actions of these adventurers, their kindness, their bravery, and their resourcefulness at saving their own people, and also helping the giants by bringing Neri back, rooting out the fell dragon, and most importantly changing Hekaton’s heart towards the small folk, that he will restore the ordoning as it once was. He said it would require the king’s direct intervention to quell the uprisings from the other giants, but that he will continue to bless the giants as long as they start and continue to help the smallfolk when world-ending threats arise.”

Hekaton seems relieved, and thanks the party once again. He quickly takes off with Uthor to prepare to go and straighten out the other giants. Neri sees to it that each adventurer receives 50,000gp apiece for their part in righting the giant’s world. Serissa also gives them all their own conch of teleportation, so that they will always have a means of visiting the kingdom. She also mentions that they will keep a look out for Slarkrethel, the kraken, but that its not likely he’ll wage a direct attack against the giant’s or the smallfolk. Still, never hurts to be too careful.
